  15. and Ethel Rosenberg to the electric chair in 1951; in New York
  16. City. The Rosenbergs were convicted of conspiring to deliver atom-
  17. bomb secrets to the Soviet Union. While the judge wrote a number
  18. of landmark decisions during his career, he was plagued by the
  19. controversial case throughout his life.
